Construction training excitescontractors in the North

Northern Region-based  have expressed satisfaction with the roll out of a National Construction Industry Council  (NCIC) certificate in construction management targeting proprietors.

Speaking after completing the course on Tuesday, a contractor Moses Mlenga said construction work requires expertise.

He said: “For one to effectively manage a construction business, they must be able to appreciate the processes and understand how quality is achieved.

“I have acquired skills and knowledge to effectively manage a construction business and produce quality work.”

NCIC spokesperson Lyford Gideon said the training was important as it bridges the entrepreneurial mind and construction field which is a technical domain.

“It, therefore, enables directors of construction firms who did not undergo technical training before establishing their construction firms to have a better understanding of the construction profession and thereby facilitating better decisions,” he said.

So far, the courses, offered in conjunction with Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Soche technical colleges, have seen 132 contractors 105 are males and 27 are females graduating.
